Johannessen succumbed to internal injuries following an avalanche atop Mount Makalu - the fifth highest peak in the world - in Nepal on May 11. A co-owner of DASH Adventures, which organizes and leads similar expeditions around the world, she was found by Ashley who tried to keep her warm for hours in harrowing conditions.
